When it gets dark early outside, Deidesheim lights up: on the four Advent weekends the old town becomes one of the most atmospheric Christmas markets in the Palatinate.
Four weekends in Advent
The Deidesheim Advent takes place on all four Advent weekends, from Friday to Sunday. In 2025 it was open on Fridays from 5 to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 2 to 9 pm and on Sundays from 11 am to 9 pm. You will find the current dates and times on the official Deidesheim Advent website. It is best to check them before your visit.
Around 80 stalls from the station to the market square
The stalls stretch from the station across the town square to the historic market square with the town hall. You will find crafts and gifts and, of course, mulled wine, which many Deidesheim wine estates make from their own wines. There is also music and plenty to taste.

For children and the young at heart
The Wichtelstube on the town square offers a children’s programme (what is on at which weekend is listed in the supporting programme of the Deidesheim Advent), and children’s carousels, a coal-fired miniature railway and the historic Ferris wheel “Alte Liebe” (2nd to 4th weekend only) invite you to hop on.
Visit Edith and the Deidesheim sheep in the town park, listen to Sabine Heinrich’s stories in the family room in the Historic Town Hall and discover the Forest of Animals and the Angel Mile in the castle park. The perfect pre-Christmas season for little ones!
Getting there
The most relaxed way to arrive is by train: the market begins right at the station. On Advent weekends parking in the old town is scarce.
Stay within walking distance
Our apartments in Deidesheim are on An der Marlach by the spa park, and the market is only a few minutes’ walk away. For somewhere a little quieter, stay at R03 – Reiterpfad in Ruppertsberg, only a few hundred metres from our Deidesheim apartments.
