Vacation rental in Ruppertsberg in the Palatinate

Ruppertsberg is a wine-growing village with several wine estates right next to Deidesheim. Our apartment R03 – Reiterpfad is on Obergasse, only a few hundred metres from our apartments in Deidesheim.

Riesling on the doorstep

Around 400 hectares of vines surround the village and its 1,400 or so inhabitants. The vineyards include Reiterpfad, Gaisböhl, Hoheburg, Linsenbusch and Nußbien. Reiterpfad, which gives our apartment its name, is classified by the VDP as an Erste Lage (premier cru).

Soils and setting

The vineyards lie between about 130 and 190 metres above sea level and face mainly south-east to south. The soils are red sandstone, and at Reiterpfad also sand, loam, limestone and loess.

Things to see and do

  • Waldgaststätte PfalzblickOn the Rehberg above the village, right on the Pfälzer Weinsteig trail. From the terrace you look out over the vineyards to the Rhine plain.Please check the opening hours on the inn’s website before you go.
  • TeehausNeoclassical pavilion from 1840 in the vineyards on the border with Deidesheim, modelled on the one in Munich’s English Garden. Today it is the village landmark and a lovely spot for a picnic.
  • A village with historyRuppertsberg is first mentioned in 1040. In the village centre you will find the late Gothic church of St Martin and old sandstone houses with archways.
  • Ruppertsberg wine fairFour days on the last weekend of August: with the fair tree, a Sunday morning get-together, a “Kerweredd” speech in Palatinate dialect and open wine estates.
  • Walk to DeidesheimThe spa gardens, market square and wine estates are right next door.
  • Stroll through the vineyardsThe vineyards start at the edge of the village – perfect for an evening walk.
