Ruppertsberg borders directly on Deidesheim. Stay here and you have the vineyards of the German Wine Route on your doorstep – and Deidesheim within walking distance.
Vineyards with names
Around Ruppertsberg lie Riesling vineyards such as Reiterpfad, Gaisböhl, Hoheburg, Linsenbusch and Nußbien. Gaisböhl has belonged entirely to the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf wine estate since 1910. Reiterpfad is classified by the VDP as an Erste Lage (premier cru) and is farmed by several wine estates.
What makes the soils special
The vineyards lie between about 130 and 190 metres above sea level and face mainly south-east to south. The soils are red sandstone, and at Reiterpfad also sand, loam, limestone and loess.
The wine fair at the end of August
On the last weekend of August Ruppertsberg celebrates its wine fair for four days: with the raising of the fair tree, a Sunday morning get-together, a “Kerweredd” speech in Palatinate dialect and wine estates opening their gates.
