About us
Maria and Ben are the people behind Besilima Apartments. We have been hosts since 2016, today for eleven holiday apartments in three locations.

Your stay. Your story.
Whether it is a wine weekend, a family holiday or a project in the area: we make sure you have an apartment where you quickly feel at home. What your stay looks like is up to you.
Lovely to have you here
We are Maria and Ben Theobald. Besilima Apartments is our family business, and the name tells you who is behind it: Ben, Sienna, Liam and Maria – the two of us and our two children.
We live in the west of Munich and are outdoor people: happiest outside, in the mountains or among the vineyards of the Palatinate. And we love travelling ourselves, usually in holiday apartments. So we know from experience what matters – a good bed, a kitchen that works and clear information before you arrive.
We share our tasks according to what each of us does best: Maria is responsible for strategy, guest experience and quality and keeps developing our apartments. Ben takes care of technology, finance, processes and day-to-day organisation.
Our story
It all began in Deidesheim. In 1985/86 Ben’s father Walter Theobald, as project manager, had the two houses Mandelgarten and Paradiesgarten built, right by the spa gardens. At first they were run as a hotel.
Today the houses are a colourful mix: some apartments are lived in privately, others are let as holiday apartments by various hosts – including us. We have been hosts ourselves since 2016, now with eleven apartments in Deidesheim, Ruppertsberg and Fischbachau. Apart from Breitenstein, which is named after the mountain above Fischbachau, they all bear the names of vineyards in Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg.
Houses with character
Hardly anyone builds like this any more: in Haus Paradiesgarten several small staircases lead up to the apartments like little towers, and many other apartments have their own small entrance too. Add gables, sloping ceilings and lots of windows – lovely to look at and a challenge of their own when it comes to renovating.
Renewed step by step
Our houses are not new, and in places you can tell. The apartments we have completely redesigned are furnished with great attention to detail. In others a few things are still from earlier years – we are renewing them bit by bit. In the descriptions we tell you honestly what to expect.
What matters to us
A holiday apartment gives you freedom: your own rhythm, your own kitchen, your own retreat. For us that includes honest descriptions and processes that work.
Easy to reach
Alma, our AI assistant, replies first, usually within 15 minutes. Anything she cannot solve, we sort out ourselves – not quite as quickly as Alma, but as fast as we can.
Clear processes
From booking to departure everything should be clear and straightforward – with contactless check-in and a digital guest guide.
Individually furnished
No two apartments are alike, each has its own style. What matters to us everywhere is good beds and a kitchen where you can cook for yourself.
Great locations
We chose our locations deliberately: on the German Wine Route and in the Leitzach valley.
Our favourite tips
Two places we love to go ourselves.
Deidesheim
The Waldgaststätte Pfalzblick: on Fridays they serve Dampfnudeln (steamed yeast dumplings) at lunchtime. A lovely stop after a walk through the vineyards.
Fischbachau
The Alte Wurzhütte at Lake Spitzingsee: rustic and cosy, just right after a walk around the lake or a hike in the mountains. It is also a hotel. Best to book a table in advance.
For coffee and cake we go to Café Winklstüberl in Fischbachau. The cakes there are wonderful.
Our locations
Deidesheim
Wine village on the German Wine Route, right in the heart of Palatinate wine culture. Our two houses are right by the spa gardens, and the station and market square are just a few minutes’ walk away.
Ruppertsberg
Wine-growing village with several wine estates right next to Deidesheim, surrounded by Riesling vineyards. Our Deidesheim apartments are only a few hundred metres away.
Fischbachau
Quiet village in the Leitzach valley between the ski areas at Lake Spitzingsee and in Bayrischzell. Many hikes start right at the apartment.
